RE: Which truck for TT

I second the 2500 comment you will be heavy, and the 2500 will manage the load safer.

RE: How do you jack up a trailer?

Whatever jack you decide is best for you, take it home deflate a tire and see if it is doable for your setup. There is a big differance between the flat tire height and inflated height. It does not hurt to carry a 6" piece of plywood to place under the jack also. In the last 30 yrs I have had about 12 tire failures between my boat and TT, and none have been easy.

RE: Where do you put your hitch when you've set up?

I leave my hitch attached to the truck, I carry some plastic bags that I wrap around the ball to keep the grease off of my clothes. After banging your shin two or three times you will start to remember its there.

RE: wheel bearings

My advice, repack and survey. If with 1500 miles all looks good, you now have a guide if they are in bad shape than a repack sooner will be the norm.

RE: Campsite reservations

We are not fans of reservations, most of our camping is bare boondocking, when we do hit a campground there is usually space, and for one night we can hack most anything.

RE: Awning Travel Locks

I do not have the locks, but I am very reserved about awning deployment. Many times I will put the trailer in the trees so awning deployment is out of the question or not needed.

RE: Can we tow with refrigerator on?

Tow with the refer on,just remember to shut it down before riding the Washington state ferries. The toll taker really goes ballistic when you forget and have to hold up the line to exit the TV to turn the gas off.

RE: Airstreams?

I have a Bigfoot and a friend has an Airsteam Bambi, both trucks are the same , when we refuel while on the road, he will use about 2 qts less fuel than I will use on a 200 mile tow.He paid 10k more for the Bambi than I paid for my Bigfoot.

RE: Tips on tracing an electrical draw

Word of wisdom, the smoke detector,or propane sensor could be the culprit. On my boat the two will kill the battery in about 10 days.

Father was right.I keep mine well greased, and a carry a few plastic bags behind the license plate. When I unhitch I tie a bag around the hitch ball.
